ALL4ONE IN A TOUGH MATCH AGAINST SYNERGY ON ROUND ROBIN 2

ALL4ONE STILL IN THE RACE FOR THE SEMI FINALS OF LOUIS VUITTON TROPHY – DUBAI

Dubai, UAE - 2010-11-22

The second Round Robin is more and more intense in Dubai, none of the teams are giving up, and all races are very close.
After a tough match, ALL4ONE lost against Russian team Synergy on the finish line. The French-German team is still in the race to get a spot in the semi finals, but no mistake is allowed any more. They will have to win the points they need tomorrow to reach the top of the score board, which is definitely within their reach, given the team’s performance on this Louis Vuitton Trophy – Dubai (also beating BMW Oracle Racing yesterday).
ALL4ONE will finish Round Robin 2 tomorrow with two races against Artemis and Emirates Team New Zealand.

John Cutler, Tactician: « It was a tough day for us. It was pretty much a “must-win” match for us, and also one we felt comfortable that we could win. It was obviously a big compromise at the start coming in from port in light air, but we managed to get out of that, and got the start that we wanted. After that, it was a close race for a while. Synergy did a couple of leebow tacks. They leebowed us one time too close at some point, and we got a penalty on them. The unfortunate thing after that is that they managed to stay in control, tacked to the right hand side really well, extended, and then on the final run to the finish, they seemed to extend pretty easily. So in the end their penalty was not an issue at all. So it’s a bit disappointing for us, because the opportunity was there for us to win it. »

Jean-Marie Dauris, Bowman: « We were hoping till the end that they didn’t have enough lead to complete their penalty (a 360° turn), but they were at least five boat’s lengths ahead, which is enough in light air to complete the turn. There was not much to hope for. They were just a bit faster than us downwind, so we lost some precious meters. I think we were missing about 20 meters for them not to be able to complete their penalty. We didn’t really manage to stay close behind them in the last downwind run. That’s a pity for us, but that’s what it is in sports. There are still some races to win tomorrow, and we will do all that we can for that. »
