ALL4ONE TAKES THE 3rd PLACE OF THE ROUND ROBIN BY WINNING THE LAST MATCH AGAINST SYNERGY. FIRST MATCH OF THE DAY LOST AGAINST ARTEMIS THOUGH

ALL4ONE TAKES THE 3rd PLACE OF THE ROUND ROBIN BY WINNING THE LAST MATCH

Auckland, New Zealand - 2010-03-16

ALL4ONE finished the Round Robin like they started it : with a winning point!
This point gives ALL4ONE the 3rd place in the final Round Robin ranking of the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland.

The matches of the day:

In its first match of the day, ALL4ONE raced against Swedish team Artemis.
ALL4ONE and Artemis left both on starboard tack, but 200 meters were separating them. ALL4ONE took the left of the race course. Unfortunately, the right side of the race course was the right choice to start in this race. ALL4ONE tried to come back on Artemis, but the Swedish team rounded the first mark upwind 24 seconds ahead.
Then ALL4ONE encountered a difficult situation, losing meters when arriving at the downwind mark, as the spinnaker came down too late, and rounding the mark while the genoa was not completely hoisted yet. The French-German team came back in the last leg downwind, but it wasn't enough. Artemis took this point, crossing the line 22 seconds ahead.

For the second race of the day against Synergy (late match from March 15), ALL4ONE left towards the left of the race course, Synergy left on the committee boat side.
First cross was at the advantage of ALL4ONE.
ALL4ONE rounded the first mark upwind 14 seconds ahead.
ALL4ONE then continued to lead the race downwind, and chose the right side of the race course to sail the second leg upwind, while Synergy took the left.
After a long separation, the two boats tacked and crossed, still with an advantage for ALL4ONE. The French-German team rounds the 3rd mark 39 seconds ahead, and ALL4ONE crosses the finish line first after a well-managed regatta.

Stephane Kandler, ALL4ONE's CEO, comes back on the results in the Round Robin: "We are for sure very happy of this result in this Round Robin where we finish third thanks to the tie break. This round robin had an incredible intensity and we were able to win the important matches. We have improved since Nice as the competition went stronger as well. That is encouraging but we must already think towards the match of tomorrow against TeamOrigin and make our best way to the semi finals. Still a long way to go!"

And now, what's next in the competition?
According to the format used in the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland, all teams sailed a full Round Robin where each team sailed every other team once to determine a ranking used in the following stages of the event.

Next stage starting tomorrow will be the “Elimination Round One”: the competitors sail a knockout series, using the rankings from the RR. So 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, and so on. The two highest ranked (using the RR ranking) teams that win their matches in this round advance directly to the semi finals. The two lowest ranked teams (using the RR ranking) to lose their matches in this round are eliminated.

Then the last step before the semi finals will be the “Elimination Round Two”, where the four remaining teams are paired up and race for the two remaining semi final berths, with the winner from each pair advancing and the loser eliminated.

ALL4ONE will then race against TeamOrigin tomorrow, 2nd start.
