Dubai, UAE - 2010-11-20

The Louis Vuitton Trophy – Dubai teams raced today in fleet with traditional wooden boats, which are specifically made to sail downwind. They have also been the first foreigners to sail together on these beautiful 60 ft boats with their respective crews, that we call the “Dhows”.
ALL4ONE wins the “Dhow Race”, in front of Emirates Team New Zealand. Today has definitely been a refreshing day for the French-German team, before the teams will go back to Round Robin 2 on the ACC boats.
ALL4ONE will race against BMW Oracle Racing tomorrow on day 2 of Round Robin 2.

Yann Gouniot, Mainsail Trimmer: « It was a really nice day. We sailed with a young and lively team. As soon as we were leading the race, they started to sing. Let me explain how the race went. All the boats were anchored for the start, next to each other. When the committee flag went from white to green we hoisted the sails, we left the anchors behind, and all the boats started to sail with the same speed. We hoisted the first sail, then the second one, and we sailed a long leg downwind on port. BMW Oracle Racing tried to luff us, but we resisted. It was really close. We jibed just before the finish line, and we crossed in front of them. It was really nice, very original, and a great experience to sail with 20 people on board these wooden boats. We wanted to win as usual, Jochen was helming and all the rest of the team 100% in its job, and as usual again we had to fight till the end, especially against BMW Oracle Racing. We are looking forward to tomorrow with a lot of motivation. »
