Trapani, Sicily - 2005-10-13

Ernesto Bertarelli, President of Alinghi:

“K-Challenge really showed above average capabilities. I would qualify the performance of K-Challenge in 2005, with all the difficulties they had, above the fleet. They belong to the top group. With a larger budget, they will be able to compete with some of the more established teams like Luna Rossa, Emirates Team New Zealand, and BMW Oracle Racing. I do not exclude K-Challenge from the top if they can find the necessary budget. They really showed what they can do.”

Ed Baird, Helmsman of Alinghi:

"K-Challenge sailed very well. They fought hard and were always close enough to take advantage of an opportunity to pass us and they succeeded. There is nothing to say except they did a super job."

Chris Dickson, CEO BMW Oracle Racing:

"We did some training with K-Challenge before the regatta started. They have a very good boat in light winds. They showed that they could sail very well. Next year, when they have their new boat, we will expect to see a clear progression of their performance. There is a long way to go and even though they have one of the oldest boats in the fleet, they have been sailing very well."

Brad Butterworth, Tactician on Alinghi:

"Well no one likes losing, but it shows you how well those teams can sail. Obviously we weren’t far enough ahead to secure the lead over K-Challenge downwind. They did a good job…We weren’t going that well and Thierry Peponnet sailed that race pretty well."

Luis Doreste, General Manager, Desafío Español 2007 :

"Against the French, we couldn’t do anything more. They had an incredible start, and defended well."
