Dubai, UAE - 2010-11-14

Today was finally the first race day on the Louis Vuitton Trophy – Dubai, where each team will race two times against all its competitors in the first Round Robin.
ALL4ONE was racing against BMW Oracle Racing today to start with, who is not less than the Defender of the 34th America’s Cup.
The Americans won the two first points, despite the fact that ALL4ONE fought hard to keep the racing as close as they could.

John Cutler, Tactician: « It wasn’t our best day in the office today. We’re pretty disappointed because we’ve been training hard for this event. I’m pleased with what we accomplished in the training, but today we got kind of a starting lesson, so that wasn’t too good. These courses are quite short, and there are plenty of marks and laylines to go, rounds that keep pushing the boats together, but if you’re just a little bit behind when the gun goes, especially against a team like BMW Oracle Racing, then they make your life pretty miserable. So we had a long day doing a lot of tacks, and not getting a lot to show for. The new format for sure saves us a lot of time, we get more racing in, and that’s what we’re here for: do as many races as possible. Tomorrow will be a better day for us. »

Olivier Douillard, Traveller: « Today has not really been good for us, as we don’t come back with points out of the two matches of the day. We have to change that tomorrow. We met some difficulties on the start of the first race that cost us the point, then on the second race we were a bit penalized by the new kind of race course that we use here, as it is shorter and so gives less opportunities in the game: BMW Oracle Racing took the right at the start, and there was no door open to come back after that. We will arrive tomorrow on the race course with the same positive spirit as usual, as the road is still long, and every point can be taken. Everything is possible for the rest of the competition, as the six teams here are able to take any point, so we have to give the best of us for each race. »

Tomorrow, ALL4ONE will race against the crew with which the French-German team trained in Dubai last week in order to prepare this Louis Vuitton Trophy: Emirates Team New Zealand.
